Just Pathetic – August 4 – August 31, 1990

Staple-bound 8.5 x 11″ gallery catalogue for an important and influential exhibition. Artists included Burden, Diamond, Herold, Kelley, Noland, Pettibon, Vallance, Wegman and Wurm. 19 pages, b/w ills. This copy is solid but for a bottom front cover corner crease running through the first 10 pages and also smoke-marks on cover as it survived a fire at the 2019 Saint Mark’s Place flat of the late art critic Peter Scjheldahl who neatly underlined passages on 9 of the 16 pages of Rugoff’s 7 page essay. A bit of darkening to one interior page. Schjeldahl also wrote some notes inside rhe rear cover which he then erased, but they are legible with some work. See image. Schjeldahl refers to the exhibition in his 2012 New Yorker piece “Mike Kelley Got on My Nerves.” Rare.
