Red printed uncorrected page proof with title and “Holder” also handwritten on spine, 302 pages in VG condition with minor creasing esp. to bottom edge. This copy belonged to the late great Jill Johnston, whose stamp appears on the half-title page thus: “Write First. Then Live.” Johnstons’ underlining appears on the first two pages of the book. This is a presentation copy from Kate Millet, which lacks the afterword by Selma Yampolsky which would appear in the published version. Laid in is a handwritten autographed signed letter (on pink letter stationery folded twice) to Johnston from Millet urging her to read the book. It reads, in part, “…I thought she was crazy & fucked up & terrific See what you think…” For a contemporary review of the book, search the world wide web for NY Times piece A Journey to Self-Destruction.
