Exceedingly rare. Unpaginated (10 pp) softcover, 8.5 x 11 inches. Comprised of three texts by Agnes Martin: The Untroubled Mind (8.5 pages), Response to Art and The Thinking Reed which take up one page. Rear cover contains brief biography of the artist. On the cover is the distinctive blue-ink stamp of Jill Johnston which reads “Write First. Then Live.” J.J. Johnston (1929-2010), critic, radical lesbian feminist and champion of the avant-garde, famously make a pilgrimage to visit Martin in the early seventies and her piece “Agnes Martin: Surrender & Solitude” is considered by some a fulcrum in her oeuvre. Minor toning to covers.
