VG minus condition, cloth without dust-jacket, 347 pages. This copy belonged to the late great Jill Johnston (1929-2010), cultural, literary and dance critic, memoirist, radical lesbian feminist and champion of the avant-garde, and it bears her distinctive blue ink-stamp on the title page which reads “Write first. then live.” J.J. Top-stain has bled down onto title page & a few others throughout the book. Some spotting to boards and to endpapers. Johnston made minimal notations on a half-dozen pages but the half title page directs us to page 34 where she underlined a passage reading “…women…must hold out not just for orgasm but for ecstasy.” As colleagues Greer & Johnston weaved in and out of concurring and disagreeing about the means & aims of second-wave feminism.
