Near Fine in brown boards (a touch of sunning to extreme bottom edge), yellow endpapers in a Very Good dust-jacket, 223 pages. A tight, gorgeous copy. Laid in are two items: a 2004 Fort Worth Weekly (newsprint) containing a piece called Painters to the Court of King George by Samuel Hudson, chronicling the Gentling twins’ relationship with George W. Bush and other patrons. The latter half of this paper is stapled, leaving the article in question unmarred. In addition there is a typed letter SIGNED [“Stuart” by Stuart Gentling to the previous owner of the book, the novelist Michael M. Thomas. The letter is a page and a half long and concerns Thomas’ possible assistance in promoting the forthcoming book, with the suggestion that Thomas conduct an interview with the brothers. Thomas’ participation did not pan out, nor did a projected essay by Dave Hickey. A classic in the field, unparalleled and enhanced by enclosures. Further info upon request.
