This present copy of a major Cage text belonged to his friend and for-a-time acolyte the late great Jill Johnston (1929-2010.) It bears her rubber stamp in blue in on the ffep which reads “Write First. then Live. J.J” as well as her initials in pencil. No internal marks. Boards are soiled and binding a tad shaken, dust-jacket lacking. Cage was one of the several father figures she interacted with in her life-long search for real meaning. This look connects two of the seminal gay figures of the twentieth century.
