My Life in Garbology [John Sinclair’s copy]

Weberman, A.J. [John Sinclair]

A Very Good copy, hardcover 8vo, 159 pages. The dust-jacket has a bit of chipping to the crown of the spine, tape repair to closed tear at head & discoloration at the flaps other light general wear. The book itself has some rust colored stains on the paste-downs and endpapers as well as a barcode sticker ion the ffep. The book is NOT signed by Weberman (who in purporting to be interested in Dylan has always only been interested in Weberman) but IS SIGNED by John Sinclair, the Flint, MI. poet, proto-Yipee and political activist (for whom Lennon wrote “John Sinclair”.) Complete inscription in ink on ffep beneath barcode reads: “What is this garbage? John Sinclair 7 2 2003” The comment is an obvious reference to the opening line of Greil Marcus’ famous 1970 review of Self-Portrait — “What is this shit?.” Sinclair made the inscription at Marcus’ reading at Spoonbill Books, Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2003.
