Making Dying Illegal – Architecture Against Death: Original to the 21st Century

8 x 11″ inch clip-bound artist-produced pre-publication galley, differing in several different ways from the Roof Books published edition and dated 2/10/06 on the title page. The cover bears what looks like the remnants of a wax seal with an illegible Japanese character or characters. Covers rubbed and stained especially at base, affecting just the bottom edges of the last 25 or so pages; part of the plastic strip of binding broken off at rear, not affecting structural integrity of the book. The (unfinished) text of the book differs in several ways from its published spawn yet will give the scholar or student insight into the making of the finished book. To give three examples: Leclercle’s introduction to the Roof edition is here lacking but is posited as an Afterword; a Glossary is included in the present version but is omitted in the published one. Thirdly, the text for Never!! (Or Let My Species Go) Down The Drain is used as an introductory text in the draft but placed on page 89 in the Roof. To make the point plainer, the two versions contain material in different order and in some cases of different substance. No other copies of this version are known by us to exist.
