Leon Golub: Mercenaries and Interrogations [Library of Peter Schjeldahl]

Thirty-two page softcover which was the working copy of the late art “critic-seer” Peter Schjeldahl. It bears extensive notes in pen on the title page as well as some underlining and notations within the texts. Condition is Good only with heavy rubbing to spine & glue missing at binding towards the top half. Otherwise minor corner-wear and the usual age-toning to pages. We haven’t been able to determine the date of notations or what review Schjeldahl may have been working. He often used an artist’s catalogue to store non-contemporaneous ephemera on the artist. In this case laid in are two items: a folded press release for Steve Kasher’s 1993 exhibition The Art of Hitler with a bit of unreadable Schjeldahl scrawl in pencil, and a folded tear sheet from a 1993 New Yorker magazine with notations next to shows P.S. intended to see, including Leon Golub & Nancy Spero at Baer; Schütte at Goodman, Utterback at De Nagy, Youngblood at McKee, Stan Douglas, Jonathan Borofsky & Odilon Redon…
