Harbinger Vol 1 No. 1 July 1967 [Warhol/Malanga cover]

Exceedingly rare short-lived journal — how many issues printed we don’t know — out of Austin in 1967 with cover montage of Andy Warhol & Gerard Malanga somewhat mysteriously titled “The Bob Dylan-Gerard Malanga Double Portrait. The mystery is explained by Raymond Foye thus: “The image is from a Warhol film portrait of Bob, and the Gerard and Andy get in the frame. Gerard includes it in his film diary that came out in 2022.” This copy is from the library of the late great Jill Johnston (1929-2010), critic, radical lesbian feminist and champion of the avant-garde, and bears her distinctive stamp in blue ink which reads “Write first. then live.” J.J. 38 page staple-bound 8vo, Very Good with some edge-wear especially up top on front & back.
